In-Line X-Ray Radiometric Analyzer ARP-1C

Advantages of on-line analyzer

Comparison of in-line ore analyzers

The ARP-1C analyzer is designed to measure the mass fraction of chemical elements from calcium (Ca) to uranium (U) in technological products of processing mineral raw materials, rocks and ores, solid and pulp-like materials in a stream in real time.

The in-line ore and pulp analyzer ARP-1C is registered in the State Register of Measuring Instruments under No. 60096-15.

ARP-1C is certified as an analytical device, a substance composition analyzer.

In the ARP-1C configuration, the radiation source is radionuclide sources of hazard categories 4 and 5 (licensing for operating activities is not required).

The use of radionuclide sources provides a number of advantages compared to X-ray tubes:

  • radionuclide sources have absolute stability of operation and do not change their characteristics under the influence of external factors (temperature, voltage surges), which ensures better measurement metrology.
  • devices equipped with radionuclide radiation sources are difficult to disable. The service life of the sources is from 10 years.
  • better determination of pulp density;
  • high signal-to-background ratio;
  • inverse measurement geometry reduces the influence of ore size on analysis results.

The ARP-1Ts analyzer can be operated in the temperature range from -30 to +50 °C. It has increased noise immunity due to digital signal transmission from the sensor to the power cabinet.

Small overall dimensions and weight, dust and waterproof design allow you to install the device in the most optimal place, directly at the control point.

Measurement error

If the calibration conditions and requirements for the location of the analyzer are met, the analysis error on the ARP-1Ts device is practically not inferior to the accuracy of chemical analysis, but the analysis is carried out in real time directly at the control point.

It is possible to reduce the analysis error by performing methodological and research work in relation to the task at hand on a specific technological product.

Sensor

The ARP-1C sensor is designed to fully ensure the protection of operating personnel from ionizing radiation from radionuclide sources.

Structurally, the sensor consists of:

  • a protective mounting block, used for mounting the sensor in the measurement area and protecting it from radiation during dismantling or transportation;
  • excitation block;
  • spectrometric unit, which is fixed to the excitation unit.

The excitation unit contains four collimator containers for placing radioisotope sources.

The spectrometric unit assembly includes a PIN detector, which converts the detected quanta of secondary X-ray radiation into electrical pulses of various amplitudes, and a pre-amplifier board (manufactured by Amptek Inc). The operating temperature of the detector is from -10 to + 50 °C.

The sensor body is made of aluminum alloy coated with a protective coating.

Power cabinet

The power cabinet is designed to power the ARP-1C analyzer with mains voltage, as well as to accommodate communication and interface devices.

The RS=>Ethernet gateway provides communication between the sensor and the discrete input/output module with the control computer via the TCP/IP protocol of the Ethernet network.

Control computer

The control computer is designed to install a special application program for processing measurement results for processing and accumulating spectrometric information coming from the ARP-1Ts sensor through the power cabinet(s), which allows for qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis of materials.

The control computer provides automatic recording of measurement and calculation results with the ability to further record them on a hard drive and transfer them to the enterprise’s process control system via Ethernet for viewing or controlling the technological process, which ensures the creation of an archive of analysis results for any period of time. On the control computer with the installed application program, it is possible to view analysis results for the selected date of measurements with information displayed on the display.

Software

Tekhnoanalitpribor LLC employees develop their own software. The ARP-1Ts analyzers include an application program for processing measurement results and ensuring the functioning of the ARP-1Ts analyzer as a whole (interaction of components and blocks, storage and accumulation of information, calibration and calibration of the ARP-1Ts analyzer, calculation of measurement results, etc.) . The application program only works as part of the ARP-1Ts analyzer.

The software application program for the ARP-1Ts analyzers is equipped with a protection function when the user has an electronic key to control the ARP-1Ts analyzer. Unauthorized access to the software of ARP-1C analyzers is excluded by limiting the rights of the user account.
